Remake Wonderland

The House Moguls - Been A Long Time (Original Mix)

I truly am a sucker for a rework of a classic. This has big fat chunky beats and will certainly get you audience response the first time you drop it.

TOP 10 of 2008 (Tribal Genre)

A small selection of tracks from 2008 that either moved my audience or me.

1. DJ Twisted Dee - Drop That Beat (Complete Trip Mix)

2. Denis the Menace Ft. Big World - Fired Up 08 (Princess Ann Vs Horny)

3. Coca & Villa - La Noche (D-Formation Beat Freak Mix)

4. Bob Sinclar & Steve Edwards - Together (Friscia & Lamboy Short Club)

5. Steven W. & Chawi Singers - Oh Happy Day (Andre Rocc Unreleased Mix)

6. Niaz Arca & Andy Notalez - Club Goes Boom (Original Mix)

7. X-Press 2 Ft. Kurt Wagner - Give It (Friscia & Lamboy Salvation)

8. Happy Clappers - I Believe 08 (Princess Ann Club-O-Rama Reconstruction)

9. Hardsoul - Nothing Better Than Your Lovin' (Prom & Roog)

10.Eddie Amador Ft. Pepper Mashay - Release Yourself (Amador's Primo Mix)

* A few of these tracks were actually released just prior to 2008 but moved into my sets in 08.This list's focus is on tribal. It would look completely different if I included other genres of house.

** It was difficult for me to list Fired Up 08 & I Believe 08, because in reality they are not new songs by any stretch of the imagination. However, Princess Ann is quite something, absolutely one to keep an ear on in the future and her versions of these tracks rocked the F-ing dance floor this year.

Colossal Screaming Bottoms

Jonat Vega Ft. Oscar Marks - Work Me (Yvan Finzi Bien Horny Mix)

So listening to this track, I can't help but wonder who the screaming bottom boy is? I mean clearly one of the three has to be. The track is a dark and progressive and a definite must have for any "Bath House DJ". Oddly part of the download url is... jzm coincidence? I think not!

Do It Like You've Never Done Before DANCE

Flavio Brucken - Don't Stop (Original Mix)

This is quite the tribal homage to what can only be called a nightlife classic, Celeda's UNDERGROUND. Done quite well, it's dark and mysterious and other than the actual words, sounds nothing like the original.

Love Groove - Welcome to the Underground (Love Groove Main Mix)

Primarily a progressive track, mixed with the track above you have dance floor magic. These two songs beg, and I mean beg to played over each other. Lyricly speaking they are match made in heaven.

90's Choice... Raise Your Hands

X-Press 2 - London Xpress (Original Mix)

So the boys are back at it again. This X-Press 2 track is a sweet sampling of 90's house sounds. The track doesn't really "go anywhere" as such but makes a great transition piece in nice house set or could be very effectively used in a live mash.

I Need You Baby

J. Verner - Put Your Hands Up (Club Anthem Mix)

This is a great uplifting circuit tribe track. Trippy vocal effects, swooshing synths over pounding drums, with creepy male vocals chanting for you to "put your hands up" and female vocals crying out for love "I need you baby". This is the kind of tribal track that has mass appeal. It will turn on Offer fans, those who like it dark and those who love vocals.

I AM READY & I'm out the door

Space Drums - Tribal Con Passion (I'm Ready For The Drums Mix)

A friendly little tribal and progressive ditty with the iconic vocal sample from Size 9 . 90's house music fans will dig it for the vocal sample tribal music fans will like it for the drums. I personally wish the drums had been a bit more Thundering but then again I am a very serious percussion/drums fan.

Try Try & Try Again

Made By Monkeys - And I Try 2009 (Baron & Martinus Mix)

Words can not express how much I liked this song when it came out in 03<(I believe). The haunting vocals and desperate lyrics sincerely touched me. However, sadly it did not seem to resonate with crowds and I never understood why. Maybe now in 2009 it will find a place in the hearts of those who crowd dance floors. I have to say I still prefer the original mixes. The new synth seems somewhat out of place at first, then it does out of no where add some great energy. Perhaps it just needs to grow on me.

Makes Me Feel I'm In Heaven

Jjah V.S. Ron Carroll - Dancin' With You

This track has so many good remixes that I couldn't decide which to post. So I give you three.

(Hardsoul Classic Mix) = Just what the remix title promises. Organ, sassy classic percussion, and superb vocal dubs give you a delicious disco sound.

(Soul Conspiracy Remix) = Darker bass line with classic house piano, rendering it a more funky version.

(Dave Mayer Remix) = Even darker and more dubbed down than any of the other mixes with a faster bmp this version is more spacey and would fit nicely between two, or over one bang'n tribal track. This is the late night night version.

Also of note, is the (Dutchican Soul Remix) with a nice little tease of sax loop and well, who doesn't like a little tease once in while?

Bang'n Beats

JC Matzer - Sax Gruvs (Original)

I will never never never get enough of marching tribal drums, bouncing hypnotic bass lines, and mesmerizing sax.

Black is Back

Tommy Love - Black (Original)

Hard electro edged house with a tribal sensibility. I didn't know black was ever out but I'm glad to be in the "loop" now and know it's back.

Feel My Drums... again

Alex Acosta & JJ Romero - The Drums Are Back (DJ Wope Dark Tribal Mix)

Yes it's theme this morning and theme is FIERCE, dark, undulating, tribal rhythms. This one brought to you by one of my favorite DJ/Producers DJ WOPE aka VENEZUELA DRUMS

Dark Tribal Rhythms

DJ Numb 1 - Audio Dark (2009)

Solid driving dark tribal. This is a late, late, late night track and I love it.

Tech-a-licious

So as I have said before , although I can appreciate it, I am not Huge fan of the tech/minimal scene. However, there are some tracks that grab me by the unmentionables and pull me onto the dance floor. Here are two of them. Both tracks have a hypnotic dark nature and a bit of progressive edge. Requiem even has the tiniest hint of tribal essence.

Umek - Spare Good For Me (Original Mix) *this link is a .rar file containing two other mixes

Oliver Koletzki - Requiem fur die Vernunft (Luetzenkirchen Mix)

If I Were an Electro DJ... I'd Sound Like This

Super Mal - Rough Justice (Original)

Elements of Funk, Soul, House and Electro combine to create something I'd try very hard to work in my set. Great Track

Sommerville Strikes Again!

Mastiksoul, Nick & Danny Chatelain - Land of Spirits (Original)

A Tech, Tribal, Progressive, and House "Clash of the Titans". This is a DJ's, DJ track.

ATTACK of BARZILLA

Dario Nunez, Patricia - Musica Linda Ft. Checky (Original)

Not sure what to say about the title but the music is slam'n! Seriously this track is F'n HOT! It would seem that Mr. Nunez is combining his past tribal sound with his newer tech sound. The result is... well you decide.

Something Different

Ron Carroll - Bump To This (Bart B More & Bingo Players)

This is not a usual post for me but I am a Ron Carroll fan and when I heard the driving, repetitive housed out synth and the vocal dub of the female rapper, I fell in love. I could do without the male vocals but in the end this is strong house track.
