Ok, lets be clear I'm discussing the phenomenal Al Green and First Choice. Love & Happiness is frankly, one the greatest songs of all time. The song has maintained a longevity that few can rival. First Choice and Ray Jones have delivered to us an exceptional version in the very deep and soulful tradition of classic house. This track would never fly at gay bar or even your typical straight club but in those deep, small, urban spaces where the really cool people come together to hear true house music the crowd will love you. It is something that will make you do right, something that will make you do wrong.

* I have always wanted the likes of Peter Rauhofer (whom by the way is fan of 60's soul) or lets say DJ Paulo to bring the world a hard, tribal, whaling diva version of this song. Perhaps one day.

A Curious Mixture

Celeda Vs. Candido - Jingo Work (Escalante's Mash)

I almost posted the Candido - Jingo but I just couldn't get past the new vocal of Jingo. I would have used the original acapella because it's way better. I also considered posting the new Celeda mixes but wasn't particularly impressed. Then I ran across this mash. It's fun and the combo of the two are better than either track standing alone. I still wish the Jingo vocal had been sampled from the original. There is just something flat about it.

Mary Mary - Get Up (Jamie J. Sanchez Club Mix)

Well come on, with a name like Mary Mary how could I not post it. This track has a mainstream tribal appeal. When gay boys say they "hate tribal" and "love vocals" this is the kind of track they want to hear. Um, pop tribal if you will. In the vein of Thunderpuss and Hex Hector. I'll be looking forward to some darker harder mixes as this track has TONS of potential.

Over The Top?

DJ Kafajest Ft. ALexis Hall - A Deeper Love (Club Mix Shake Hair)

So this track has been done, and done, and done again. Much like Britney on a night in Vegas... but I digress. The vocal track is shredded, ripped and dubbed through out the entire track. Normally, I like such work but I think I may have found a track where it's just too much. The production lacks but it does have serious energy and I could see it going over well.

Really not sure when this version was produced, It sounds updated but I could find no information on it in a short search. Listening made miss some "days gone by" when there were several bang'n Alma Matris tracks being thrown about in the nightlife arena.

...I'm in love with Obama. It could be the simple fact that he is able to speak in complete sentences, the likes of which we have not heard in EIGHT, LONG, DARK, SCARY, YEARS. On a non-musical note (ha ha get it ...note) please please PLEASE register and vote this year. Even if it is for the evil empire, make your voice heard. It frightens me to think that we live in a society where more people vote for American Idol than the president. Register, vote and encourage every friend you have to do the same. After that, go see Beverly Hills Chihuahua, becasue... come on, seriously, how F'n cute are those dogs?

As far as the track goes, it's another great track in the long vein of M.L.K and preacher tracks. Scott used Plastic Dreams and well, it's really hard to go wrong with that. Mister K himself said to spread the song around "liberally".

House Music Baby! Latin influenced horns with funky guitar. Aye Aye Aye! This is the kind of track I love playing with my DJ buddies because they get it. Their little squinty red eyes light up like children on Christmas morning. This song would translate well to any jack'n house dance floor but I'm not sure mainstreamers would get it. There is, oddly, a tribal influenced version too.

Really fun track. If I'm not mistaken "they" use Obama's voice and another person who sounds similar to Obama to make a statement. Also used, is the now iconic sax loop Alex Gaudino took global. That loop much like, lets say the Synth loop from Sandy B - Make the World Go Round, is just so powerful. It ALWAYS seems to resonate with any crowd. Class A House Track. Awesome intro, great builds and searing vocals. Light elements of electro, progressive, and deep house all blended with a dark beat & minimal percussion bring the song alive. I had been passing it by but last night on my way home from dinner and a few drinks, I heard this song like never before. The volume was up and the intro grabbed me then the vocals and builds forced me to listen to it again.
