STOP

Wendel Kos Ft. Andrea - Mr. Right (Wendel's Basement Mix)

A good ole school, funky flavored, gay bar sounding house track. Big crunchy bass line, a little vocorder action and a heavy pop sensibility.

LORD of VIBE

Funk Soldiers and In 2 Deep Ft. Jelone - Did You Ever (Sandy Rivera Vocal Mix)

In keeping with the house theme this AM. I give you Sandy Rivera. I first heard Sandy back in 2000 with one of my favorite tracks Young Hearts, I was a late Rivera bloomer, and I have been "hooked" ever since. This track is a an interesting contrast of a dark nature and soulful vibe. It's remarkable actually, a track that grows on you versus attacking you instantly, but that's because it's so smart, intelligent, and well crafted.

Sandy's tracks are not for everyone but if you watch and listen you will notice the people who claim to know everything about house are not so into him and people who do know a lot about house are.

That's Da Sound!

Hatchys - Nebula (Original Mix)

Dark and when I say Dark I mean Danny Tenaglia DARK. As in Global Underground's, Danny Tenaglia 004, disc 1, track 13, Anthony Rother - Red Light District DARK which was released a decade ago in 1999. Lets not forget Tenaglia is nothing less than groundbreaking and quite franky a musical genus. When I listen back to this G.U. release, I'm astounded by how cutting edge it was and how relevant it still is.

I'm straight up wet for the heavy bass synth of Nebula and the second I heard it I was instantly transported back to the first time I heard the Rother track. This is a DJ's DJ track and it gets 5 stars as far as I'm concerned. This shit is hot hot hot!

If you are so inclined, check out Anthony Rother - Red Light District here to understand the connection between the two tracks and consider yourself schooled. (ripped from the recording mentioned above)

Atlanta got schooled, congratz Atlanta!

Tree Frog is Back on a Mission

J. Verner Ft. Philomedusa - Kombo (Original Mix)

I have been waiting a long time to hear this loop used. A fan of Julio Verner's productions, I was hoping for something with a bit more energy. The good news is that because this track is basically simple you can play it under or over another track to add additional energy.

Break the Ghetto

Clubzound - The Guetto (Original Mix)

I'm not sure how this came to be labeled an "original" mix. I have both the tracks used in this "original" independently of each other and if my memory is correct neither was produced by Clubzound but whatev call it what you like. This has been some what of a theme of the Clubzound sound. Stellar tracks from the past updated or mashed. This offering gives us tribal drums with an old school sample laid over it. Be warned once you play it for em their going to request it relentlessly.

Short & Sweet

Tanja Monies - Love Sex Music (Original Tribal)

A sassy little vocal tribal ditty to get your weekend started. Bang'n drums & a naughty little potty mouth combine and beg you to free yourself.

Just Jazz

Amir - Jazz Loops (Original Mix)

Smooth, deep house, with big time jazz loops. Surprised? Good stuff. Amir serves it chilled and garnishes with vibe.

The Moog Arp

Donna Summer - I Feel Love 2009 (Miguel Vargas Latinoamerican Drums)

If there were a Godfather of sound for dance music, it would be the colossally famous Moog Arp. It is a classic that has stood the test of time and that is seriously saying something in terms of dance music. This offering brought to us by Miguel Vargas also incorporates tribal drums. The production is a bit on the muddy side. I like my tribal a bit more crisp. None the less it's a solid track and when we are talking Summer, The Arp and Drums, we are talking good stuff!

Good Vibrations & Sweet Sensations

The Latin Players - Tribal Magnetico (The Raytech Remix)

Hold on to your coochie, cause The Raytech is letting you have it with this one baby. These drums will have your ovaries exploding and your fallopians tied in knots. Yes ma'am, I'm talk'n bout rock'n your disco pussy. Thundering Tribal!

Mamma I'm Depending on You to Tell Me the Truth

Rainbeau - Rolling Stoned

The last remix of this song that worked for me in a big fat soulful house way was done by ATFC. This progressive mix is great. Because this version is very simple, it can be worked over any number of tribal tracks for additional energy and drive. The best thing about it is the use of the original Temptations vocal track. I was disappointed that the entire vocal track wasn't used, at least not in this version, but the track is still a stand out.

I Don't Know Why...

Britney Spears - Circus (Ulises Gonzales & Allan Natal Base Mix)

I'm posting this. The only Shitney song that has ever appealed to me was "Slave" and frankly that had everything to with the producer and nothing to with her. None the less I like Natal and sad as it to say as a DJ you need to have some of the crap people ask to hear. At least Natal & Gonzales give us some drums and make the track tolerable.

I Get What I Want!

Lolleata Holloway - Crash Goes Love (DJ Morais Power Dub Private)

Another in a long line of remixes for this track. This is a high energy tribal dub done very well. It is the kinda track, this and others versions of the same song, that never fails to get a response from the floor. This one is for Rain cause I know how sista love the vocal sample.
