Happy New Queer

Dani L Melius & Billy The Kilt - Work This Pussy (Original Mix)

You didn't think I was going to leave 2009 without delivering a gem to you, did you? Superb drums, way on the silly side but then again we are discussing Sweet Pussy Pauline. Although this track has had it's pussy worked over more times than I can count, this version sounds very Young Fresh & New. Trust, the dance floor will go BALLS for this track.

Late Night

Lula & Phunk Investigation - So Fast & So Deep (Tibal Tarante Dub)

Excellent late night! The first time I heard Tibal was 2003 I believe, with Peak Fiend. All though I do not run across a lot of his mixes, I always listen when I do. This tribal and progressive track carries big time late night intensity with subtle notes of tech. Then of course there is Lula sounding quite wicked with the effects.

On a side note, should you ever meet Tibal, please ask him about the video he made at WMC a few years back and watch the look on his face. ;)

Know You're Out There

Thelma Houston - I Need Somebody Tonight (Joey Negro Zone Mix)

As with most things Negro all of Joey's mixes for this track are in the proper vein. This one has a super-drum intro. Then you have the delicious combination of Thelma whaling with deep sounds, breaks and returns. Class A house!

Blast From The Past

Billie Meyers - Wonderful (Barry Harris Acca-Triba-Lectro Mix)

Well well well, look who is back on the scene. Miss Harris teams back up with Miss Meyers for a little holiday romp in the audio hay. Billie's voice sounds great on the track but it does lack the energy you would usually associate with Barry. The transition from tribe to lectro is very fun though and I suspect your dance floor is going to love this track when it's properly placed in the set.

Medicine Man

D-Unity - Shaman (Peter Bailey Mindcontrolled Mix)

It's time to take your medicine. See you have been ill for quite some time and I have found the cure. Dark tribal tek. This .rar file also contains (Richard Dinsdale's Remix) which is running Peter's a very close second place.

I'm The One!

Bebe Zahara Benet - I'm The Shit (Ralphi Rosario Dub)

Time to GAY it up a little. Add this to the set list with DJ Ranny and Nina Flowers - Loca and you'll have all the sassy queens strutting and working for you. This is typical Rosario, tribal essence, mainstream synths, and sassy vocal edits.

1 2 3 Shake Your Body Now

Ralphi Rosario Ft. Shawn Christopher - Everybody Shake It (DJ Paulo Orgasmic Dub)

A while back I posted several other mixes of this track but now it's time for a little Shaken' Paulo style. Paulo always seems to hit it just right. Typically speaking his mixes are the perfect combination of progressive sounds and tribal rhythms with a touch of vocals. Because this is a Dub in the true sense of the word the vocals on his mix are minimal. This .rar file contains (Jay-J's Drum Mix) too which is rather fun as well.

Got To Stop

Syke 'N' Sugarstarr - I Don't Know (Syke 'N' Sugarstarr Main Mix)

Well floor shakers what can I say? Another post in the proper vein. It's just where I'm finding the beats that move me at the moment. Maybe all my tribal producers are on hiatus?

So this track is a return of sorts for S'N'S. After several productions in the tech genre, they now give us a great vocorder sample, a big room bass loop, and sassy vocals. Although the track is not dark per say, it lends it's self to that feel. The tech influence is still there but the structure of the song is more proper. It's actually a great combination of multiple genres.

Facebook Files

Armand Van Helden & A-Track Present Duck Sauce - Grand Steppin' (Original Mix)

So this little gem came to my attention via facebook and a nightlife icon here in Austin TX, Our Lady of the Golden Turn Table... Miss H aka Michael Hernandez. Armand & A-Track give us classic disco and house sounds in a over saturated tech and "Ibiza" market, so it sounds almost new. I'll go step further and coin a new term. Lets call it Roots House. It's fun with great energy and most of all it's straight up sounds happy. Miss H's quote was "I can see all the old school kids voguing to this".

The Lyrical Jessie James

Beaten Soul & Keith Thompson - Change (Souldynamic Saxstrong Mix)

Spoken word over deep deep soul filled house highlighted with sax stabs and riffs.

Pulsating Energy

Cihan Elte - Dancer In The Dark (Original Mix) (Tamer Fouda Drum-O-Quanza Remix)

Wickedly dark pulsating progressive house. No vocals to speak of. This track is all about driving energy with a slinky sex appeal. I'm feeling both of them but when I'm in the car and the Bose is blaring, I tend to lean to the original which is surprising as I have tendency to lean Fouda most of the time. This link is a .rar that contains both mixes listed above.

Chill Out Mother Fucker

Dennis Ferrer - Hey Hey (Vox)

Oh Mr. Ferrer... simply put you are the king of cool. This track is chill at it's core with exceptional vocals. Dennis always brings something different to speakers and has done it again with this track. The track is exceptional and stands out instantly.

The track is so good and has inspired me so, that it garners the first promo video post ever on Floor Shaker. It's amazing to see Dennis vibe to his own track. The man is delivering energy on every level and looking good doing it.

Some additional information about the track form Mr. Ferrer in his own words.

"So here it is....the record is called Hey Hey!! I wrote this about the first time someone meets someone that piques your interest in the street. You walk by and someone grabs your attention. Most of the time you don't want it but occasionally you'll entertain someone and if the stars align right...well you hook up. Sometimes it turns out bad and you reflect and you tell yourself...DAMN! why'd i do that in the first place. That's the thought that went into this when i wrote it.

I had a difficult time looking for the right person to sing this song as it wasn't the generic vox record of old. I needed an edge. Someone who's voice had personality. I think I found it with this artist.

The record is definitely different and might take ya a few listens but I hope you enjoy as it comes from the heart.

Chorus voxes was Me, Vivien Goldman (the wonderful professor of post-punk at NYU who also wrote and performed the 1981 post-punk classic "Launderette") and Dominique Keegan of The Glass. They were done through a Neumann U47 in Omni (cuz we were scattered around the booth..cardoid would've sounded weird..too focused on one particular person) into a Neve 1064 and compression was done through a Purple MC77."

Lub Dub

D-Lav, Shlavens & Craig Mitchell - Noises 2009 (Edson Pride Rapido Dub)

Dark progressive house. Great energy and the lub dub boom of a heart beat. This track is about late night, volume, and a great sounding system that doesn't muddy up the low end. In short the track rocks my disco balls.

Hooked Up On You

Jocelyn Brown - Somebody Else's Guy ( Alex Dubbing Aggressive Mix)

So far this is my favorite version of JB's track. It's a great combination of styles. A hint of deep house, synthed out piano, tribal essence, a great A Cappella, a funky proper house breakdown, then back to bang'n it out.

Bump & Dance

Celeda - The Underground (Jesse Garcia)

Well now, we really are discussing a nightlife classic when it comes to this dance floor crusher. Here we sit a decade later with new mixes by some of the industries best. Jesse gives us a progressive version with a bit of a funky flavor and subtle notes of electro. It was not what I expected from Garcia and I have to say I like it.

Celeda - The Underground (D-Unity Remix)

If you are looking for a darker more tribal version then you'll want to Let D-Unity lead you down.

Not posted here but worth checking out is the (Richard Grey Remix). Richard uses the best part of the original and adds new elements.

Nailing It!

Inaya Day - Got 2 Get Up (Mr. Timothy 2009 Mix)

If every time someone remixed a classic it came out this good the world of dance would be a much better place. This is an absolute must have. There seems to be a magic relationship between Mr. Timothy and the vocals of Inaya. Don't even get me started on the flawless mini scat. I almost came completely undone when I heard this track, it's just too hot for words.

Let There Be House!

Sandy Rivera - Dirty Sax (Original Mix)

Step back... cause this shit is Grade A, white hot, house music baby! No vocals, Sandy lets the sax do all the talking. Deep proper house at it's best. I'm in love! If you don't like or "get it", sorry bout your bad luck. My heart goes out to you and you'll be in my prayers.

I'm Texting You

Simone Denny & Barry Harris - Drama Queen (Texting U Edson Pride Epic)

Okie Dokie, I'll cave and post this cheese ball of a track. This mix is better than Wayne G's and the Barry Harris versions but the track is still quite cliche'. With lyrics like "Don't even bother texting me back" & "Don't text, leave me alone, I just deleted your personal ring tone" it's struggle for me to listen and not shake my head in disappointment.

The music is your typical mainstream circuit sound with a tribal core. I love me some Edson but "Epic" might be a bit of stretch or it could be that the lyrics just annoy me that much. Sadly this track is going to be really popular especially with the younger chicken set, Nellies, and drag queens. So get ready for the onslaught of requests.

Without You

DJ Dex Ft. Kathy - It Just Wont Do (Club Mix)

Originally done by Tim Deluxe & Sam Obernik in 2002, this remake is cute. It reminded me of how much I loved the track in general. The (Svenstrup & Vendelboe Mix) is nice too in more mellow beach house kind of way.

Sunday, October 18, 2009

Voulez vous coucher avec moi

Moulon Rouge - Lady Marmalade (E-Thunder Mix)

Very nice! It was done well in 2002 and E-Thunder delivers with this tribal mix.

There Is No Guest List Tonight!

Erich Ensastigue & Ze Chacon - Eu Te Amo (In Stereo Mix)

Once in a while a track comes along that you may hear several times and then all of the sudden you hear it again but you hear like you have never heard it before. This is one of those tracks for me. This is a smoking hot progressive track that you will not truly be able to appreciate until you have heard it loud and feel the sound wrap around you. Intense, full of energy, and way big dancing fun! The file is .rar with several other mixes but it's all about the In Stereo! Played after your hottest tribal vocal track it will take the roof off the venue.

Welcome

DJ Will Beats & Noveletto - Let The Music Play

I'm not sure if everyone else has assumed as I did that this was another rehash of Shannon but let me tell you it's not. There are butt load of remixes. Tribal base ala Will Beats with a progressive circuit sound. The track is alright but the vocals kinda miss the mark. It's as if someone is trying to sound cool and the very effort of trying makes it, well, a little uncool.

I think the track would have been a lot better if it had the following mix of elements: The bass and beats from the Tannuri Mix, The vocal track from the DJ Diogenes Mix (they are deeper, richer and less flat), and the synths from the Rogerio Lima Mix.

(DJ Rogerio Lima Remix)

(DJ Diogenes Mix)

(Tannuri Mix)

AMAZING HOUSE

Laura Izibor - From My Heart To Yours (U-Ness & Jedset Soulheaters Mix)

You can call it proper, beach, or soul house as long as you recognize this is an amazing track. Smooth sexy and chill. Excellent vocal edits and effects! Tracks like this make me long for a place in Austin where DJ's play this kind of house and the crowd goes nuts vibing it. Sadly here in the "live music" capitol of the world this type of amazing house doesn't draw a crowd large enough to keep a venue alive.

For The Masses

The Veronicas - Everything I'm Not (Eddie Baez Anthem)

If mainstream pop remixed into a mainstream dance track is what your into than look no further.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Where We Can Be Free

Aly-Us - Follow Me (Harry Cho Choo Romero & Jose Nunez Deep In Jersey Mix)

One of my absolute all time favorite tracks. If you don't get chills when the classic strings loop comes in then you may need to question weather or not you have a soul. This version has an updated deep tech oriented sound but Choo Choo & Nunez keep it real with the original strings, vocals, and the rich deep bass textures we have come to expect from Romero.

Move

Dandy - I Wanna See You Move (Original Mix)

Tribal Drums, Latin Percussion, Effects, Breaks, and more Percussion. Several other mixes out there of note, but not posted here is the Rodrigo Baron Fire Drum mix.

Bump'n House

Soydan - Running With the Beat

Ghurl! So fine! Funky ass jack'n house. Dance while the record spins. Think cool on the level of Basement Jaxx.

Thursday, October 8, 2009

Asses Nice & Tight

DJ Lupo Vs. Tanzamomo - Everybody Beat (Lupo Mix)

A bit on the silly side and unquestionably repetitive but a super fun house track. This is an early track, 11:00ish. A great transition track from crappy pop into the realm of dance.

A NEW DAY

Antoine Dessante & Inaya Day - Let There Be (Antoine Dessante Club Mix)

Really strong intro then, this sort lame piano synth loop that in my opinion just doesn't work. It has a really dated simple sound that does not contrast well with the drums. Man I was seriously hoping to be thrilled by this track too. You know I seriously heart me some Inaya but not even her vocals could save this mix. I was disappointed in the Denzel Mix as well. The good news is the track has tons of potential and there are a lot of producers that can save it. I'll be looking forward to hearing some different mixes.

Look The Funk Out Sukka

Armand Van Helden - Funk Phenomena (Starkiller Re-Edit)

Oh how I loved this track when it first came out and Helden could do no wrong. This Starkillers update does an excellent job of maintaining the integrity of the original while making a slamming new version! "YEAH"

More Energy

DJ Lapetina & Alex Marie - Feelings Out (DJ Morais Mix)

Another Morais drum driven vocal treat for the circuit set. Some fun breaks and vocal samples that everyone will recognize.

Why You're Here

Jumble - Free Your Mind (Ricardo Reyna Digital Drums)

An after-hours progressive tale about the drive and energy of the dance floor. You'll know why you are here after you play this with volume up.

Yeah Ugh Huh

D-Unity - Tribal Rhythm (Energy Man Nova Mix)

As with most things D-Unity, we are talking about pounding hypnotic drums and punishing bass lines. This version adds a little urban feel with vocal edits which are really more like verbal edits than vocal edits as nobody is actually singing on the track.

Sunday, September 27, 2009

Hey Mister

Andrea Carnell - You Used to Know (Yaron Knochen Power Mix)

This track is all about the circuit. Sweeping synths, check, bitter female vocals, check, tribal drums, check, and high energy, check. It sounds a lot like a Nissim and Rosario combo. You can trust, all your hot bodied boys will thumping to this one.

Lift Me Up

Ann Nesby - So Much Joy (Alex Acosta Vocal Mix)

A touch of tribal, seasoned with a hint of electro, and uplifting lyrics combined with classic circuit synths. I dig it but I was hoping for a bit more thunder from Acosta.

A New Life & I'm Feeling Good

The Beatthiefs & Suzee X Ft. Peyton - Feeling Nina (Micha Moor Mix)

Bombastic Nina Simone! If you love soul, jazz, straight up house or Micha, you are going to be hot for this track! Excellent production! This is truly exceptional.

* Sorry readers, I looked for an updated link but the campaign to keep this off the web must be big because all the links I found where dead. It's worth the $2.50 though so get it. 10/03/09

STOP

Wendel Kos Ft. Andrea - Mr. Right (Wendel's Basement Mix)

A good ole school, funky flavored, gay bar sounding house track. Big crunchy bass line, a little vocorder action and a heavy pop sensibility.

Sunday, September 20, 2009

Shum On Gloria Les Go

John Revox - Break The Conga

Just a fun tribal cover to the Gloria Estefan pop classic.

Saturday, September 19, 2009

The Audience Is Listening

Chris Cox, Steven Lee, & Trent Cantrelle - Siren Says (Original Mix)

An intense tech lovers delight, a vocal lovers nightmare. This is one of those rare tech tracks that can keep my attention with out being played in a big room. Versatile enough to be dropped in a progressive or tribal set to add a new element.

Not Your Everyday Gay

Ellektra vs Marvin Gaye - I Heard It Through The Grapevine 2009 (Ellektrafied Full Vocal)

There are so many old soul songs that get rehashed into dance tracks with a lame breakdown in the middle which leads to a sample of the original track then a swoosh and back to the beat without really creating something new of the original track. Well this is not one of those. This is a full on audio assault with Marvin Gaye's vocals leading the charge! To take such an iconic song and so masterfully create a true dance track out of it as is done here is rare. This falls under the ATFC - Papa Was a Rolling Stone category of exceptional.

LORD of VIBE

Funk Soldiers and In 2 Deep Ft. Jelone - Did You Ever (Sandy Rivera Vocal Mix)

In keeping with the house theme this AM. I give you Sandy Rivera. I first heard Sandy back in 2000 with one of my favorite tracks Young Hearts, I was a late Rivera bloomer, and I have been "hooked" ever since. This track is a an interesting contrast of a dark nature and soulful vibe. It's remarkable actually, a track that grows on you versus attacking you instantly, but that's because it's so smart, intelligent, and well crafted.

Sandy's tracks are not for everyone but if you watch and listen you will notice the people who claim to know everything about house are not so into him and people who do know a lot about house are.

Divas 2 the Dancefloor Please

Natural Born Grooves Ft. Thea Austin - Bad Bad Baby (Extended Mix)

A simple house track with the fantastic vocals of Mizz Austin.

Chris B Ft. Angie Brown - Heaven With You (Club Mix)

Piano house with lilting pop lyrics delivered superbly by Brown.

Thursday, September 10, 2009

THE BIG ONE

Junior Vasquez Ft. Maxi J - Insecurities

My money is on the R&G Anthem. It's everything we have come to love from these two when they collaborate. Joe Carrano's Big House Mix sounds more like tribal than house to me but what do I know. Then we have Grandpa's Mix which sounds like Junior dropped a big ole tab of electro before he went into the studio. Honorable mention goes out the Fumi Kondoh Mix which is not posted here but can be found lurking about the web.

***(Razor & Guido Anthem Vocal)***

Listen It's Getting Closer

JC Mazter - It's Time 2 Smoke (Original Mix)

Dark Progressive House with great use of the doppler effect.
